Baton Rouge, La. – SOUTHPAC, a political action committee of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI), today announced the endorsement of two candidates looking to replace retiring senator A.G. Crowe who served in senate district 1.
“SOUTHPAC actively searches for candidates who support job growth policies and economic development in Louisiana,” Steve Stumpf, chair of SOUTHPAC, said. “Whether it is an incumbent or new candidate, our members look for quality individuals who reflect our beliefs as the business community.”
SOUTHPAC covers the geographic regions of the Northshore, New Orleans, Jefferson and Houma area.
SOUTHPAC area committee interviewed both Pete Schneider and Sharon Hewitt for the senate seat. After careful consideration the committee agreed to endorse both Schneider and Hewitt in their bid for SD 1.
Pete Schneider is the CEO of St. Joe Brick Works manufacturer and formerly served in the House of Representatives from 1991-2007. He has been married to Elizabeth Lussen Schneider since 1979, and they are parents of three children, Pete IV, Christopher and Kathryn.
Sharon Hewitt formerly worked as an engineer for Shell and currently serves as the vice-chairman of the St. Tammany Republican Parish Executive Committee. Sharon and her husband, Stan, have been married for 32 years and are parents of two grown sons, Chris and Brad.
“We encourage the voters of senate district 1 to support these pro-business candidates in their efforts to win in this important pro-business district,” said SOUTHPAC executive director Brian Landry.
