Beth Mizell Endorsed By SOUTHPAC

Baton Rouge, La. – SOUTHPAC, a political action committee of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI), today announced the endorsement Beth Mizell looking to replace term limited Senator Ben Nevers who served in senate district 12 for three terms.

“SOUTHPAC actively searches for candidates who support job growth policies and economic development in Louisiana,” Steve Stumpf, chair of SOUTHPAC, said. “Beth’s background uniquely qualifies her to run for senate district 12.”

SOUTHPAC covers the geographic regions of Washington and St. Tammany Parishes along with Greater New Orleans and the Houma region.

Beth Mizell is a businesswoman and active community volunteer. She grew up in Bogalusa and moved to St. Tammany Parish, where she operated a business for 15 years. Mizell now resides in Franklinton and operates a cattle farm. She has been an active Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) since 2001, where she is appointed by judges to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children.

In 2012, Beth lost her high school sweetheart and husband of 41 years, Bob, to cancer. She is the mother of two grown children and has six grandchildren. Mizell’s daughter Julie is a teacher and her son is a U.S. Marine combat veteran working with the State Department.

Beth has spent her career as an educator, owning and operating a preschool in St. Tammany for 15 years, and then working with a national education firm. She is a member of First Baptist Church of Franklinton.

SOUTHPAC endorsed Beth Mizell in 2011 in her previous run for Senate against incumbent Ben Nevers. Mizell nearly won that race with 49.4% of the vote.

“Being an experienced small business owner, I am extremely honored to have the endorsement of LABI’s SOUTHPAC. I’m ready for the responsibility and excited about the opportunity to make jobs and economic development a top priority next term. SOUTHPAC has recognized that I can be an effective champion in promoting economic development in our district and Louisiana, “ said Beth Mizell.

“We encourage the voters of senate district 12 to support Beth Mizell in her efforts to win this important seat,” said SOUTHPAC executive director Brian Landry.
